What the Avalon climate does to surfaces
- The strongest winds among Canadian cities, so horizontal rain
- Heavy fog, especially in early summer
- Constant salt air across the whole peninsula
- Mild winters, but with many crossings of the freezing point
Coverage area · Avalon Peninsula
St. John’s is the windiest city in Canada, and one of the wettest and foggiest. Rain here does not fall, it arrives sideways. An east-facing wall takes a water load that has nothing in common with the same wall elsewhere in the country.
Also serving nearby: Mount Pearl, Conception Bay South, Paradise, Torbay, Portugal Cove.
The coverage (1,000 to 1,200 sq ft per 19 L pail, two coats) and the protection duration (up to 15 years) are the manufacturer specification, not independent lab results. Always test a small area before treating the whole surface.
